Position Purpose
Shell Canada is looking for a HSSE Field Coordinator to join its Canada Integrated Gas – Upstream team. The HSSE Field Coordinator is responsible for supporting, advising, partnering, and challenging Operations teams and Delivery teams in all aspects of HSSE in Shell’s Groundbirch and Gold Creek assets. This team member is responsible for the practical implementation of the Human Performance, Psychological Safety and Learner Mindset principles, in addition to application and maintenance of our existing HSSE programs, tools and systems. Managing the safety culture requires strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills as well an authentic passion to improve safety performance by understanding and mitigating risks.
This role is preferably based in one of our field locations in Fort St. John, BC but this team member could also be based at our other field location in Grand Prairie, AB. This team member will be working closely with a team of HSSE and Regulatory/Environmental professionals to directly support Operations, Wells, and Projects. This role will require knowledge and appreciation of Shell HSSE Control Framework, HSSE management systems, as well as the various regulatory HSSE frameworks in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

Accountabilities:Deliver site specific HSSE support to the asset teams
Analyze, monitor, trend and provide insights on HSSE performance for Operations
Manage incidents reporting and classification, coordinate incident investigations, and track investigation actions through Shell’s global incident reporting system
Coordinate Emergency Response Plan updates, coordinate and facilitate annual major ERP exercises, and support ERP tabletop exercises
Manage contractor safety as Contractor Holder and/or HSSE Representative through working closely with central team to deliver Contractor Safety Management Process for Operations
Monitor and effectively implement road safety strategy with the central road safety Subject Matter Experts (SME) and fleet manager
Support with the maintenance of the HSE management system
Liaise with federal and provincial safety regulators
Support safe delivery of Turnaround and growth projects
Coach and challenge front line employees and contractors on HSSE aspects
Conduct HSSE assurance through audits and inspections
Work closely with Security and Health SME to provide site security and health support
Act as focal for federal and provincial safety programs, such as TDG and WHMIS
Skills & Requirements
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
10+ years of related work experience; preferably in the gas and power markets in Canada
Post-secondary degree in Engineering or diploma in relevant field of study
Professional designations in engineering, safety (CRSP) or other relevant discipline would be considered an asset
Willing to travel from 25% - 50% to other field location for work is required
Extensive knowledge with HSSE management systems
Proficient skills in Personal Safety, Process Safety, Road Safety, emergency preparedness and response, and incident investigations
