Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Auckland Sexual Health Education Team, part of the Adult Community and Long-Term Conditions Directorate at Te Toka Tumai, provides community sexual health education and promotion. We have 2 roles available to be part of our team, depending on candidates would consider full and part time applicants (0.6 – 1.0 FTE, 3-5 days) on a fixed term basis, until Dec 2024, to be employed as a Community Health Worker. The successful candidate will share our values and passion for supporting communities to thrive. Our team use health promotion in various ways to encourage positive experiences of healthcare, and so our day to day work is varied.
As a valued member of the education unit at Auckland Sexual Health Services you will be have two main areas of focus:

• Being a programme coordinator and mentor of the Peer Sexuality Support Programme (PSSP) within a variety of secondary schools in the Auckland regional area including delivery of three residential hui at the start of each year.
• Deliver high quality sexual health education and promotion events for priority populations and those agencies, organisations or supporting services engaging with them, including; training institutes, tertiary providers, schools, community organisations and iwi based providers within the Auckland regional area.

Both areas of focus require autonomous management of projects and portfolios as part of a small cohesive team. The role will also undertake agreed activities as delegated by the team coordinator to support delivery of the Sexual Health Education Service objectives.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant certificate/diploma qualifications at National Qualification Framework Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent)
• Current full car drivers' licence
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Effective self-management, time management and organisational skills
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
• Effective facilitation skills
• Project or programme management experience and skills
